The Brooklyn Nets are a National Basketball Association team in Brooklyn, New York. The franchise was founded in 1967-68 in the American Basketball Association, originally playing as the New Jersey Americans. The team became the New York Nets in 1968-69 and joined the National Basketball Association in 1976-77. The team became the New Jersey Nets in 1977-78 and finally the Brooklyn Nets in 2012-13.
