The Buffalo Braves were a National Basketball Association team in Buffalo, New York. The team was founded as an expansion franchise in 1970-71. It is commonly stated that the team relocated as the San Diego Clippers in 1978-79, but in actuality it was the original Boston Celtics that headed west while the Braves settled in as the new Boston Celtics and traded for the majority of the former Celtics' roster.
