The National Football League is a major professional men's American football league in the United States of America. The league was founded with 14 teams in 1920 as the American Professional Football Conference but was renamed the American Professional Football Association before commencing play. The league was renamed the National Football League in 1922, the National-American Football League in 1950-51 but returning to the National Football League before commencing play. The league has since grown to include 32 franchises.

Seasons
Beginning in 1966-67, the interleague World Championship Game (later Super Bowl) was held at a neutral site. When the American Football League completed its merger into the league beginning with the 1970-71 season, the Super Bowl became the league championship game and remained hosted at a neutral site.
