The Western Hockey League was a major men's professional ice hockey league in Canada and the United States of America. The league was founded in 1921-22 as the Western Canada Hockey League with four teams in Canada. The league entered the United States of America and was renamed the Western Hockey League in 1925-26. The league merged into the National Hockey League after the 1925-26 season, bringing two of its six teams into the older league via relocation while the other four folded major league operations.
